David F. Keiper, age 88, a lifelong resident of Hellertown PA, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the VNA Hospice House at St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township PA. He is the husband of the late Frances J. (Jacobs) Keiper who died January 16, 2002. Born in Hellertown PA, October 20, 1918, he is the son of the late Frederick O. and Mary (Bachman) Keiper. David worked as a Metallurgical Engineer for the Bethlehem Steel as the Superintendent of the Electric Furnace for 41 years, retiring in 1982. He was a graduate from Lehigh University in 1940 with a Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering. He is a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown; Board of Directors of the Union Cemetery of Hellertown; had been a long-time Board member of the Keystone Savings Association; a member of the Dewey Fire Company, Hellertown and Past President of various pigeon racing clubs. He is survived by his Sons, Jeffrey D. of Bethlehem PA and Gary F. and his wife Dori A. of Whitehall PA; Daughter, Gwendolyn K. Singer of Hellertown PA; 5 Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lauren, Jonathan, David and Daniel; and 1 Great Granddaughter, Avelyn B. A public visitation period will be from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown. The service and interment will be at private Sunday, for the family only.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, 501 Northampton Street, Hellertown PA 18055 and/or the VNA Hospice, 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem PA 18018.
