Maria (Vecchio) Abrardo, age 55, of Schnecksville PA, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township PA. She was the wife of Joseph M. Abrardo. The couple celebrated their 32nd Wedding Anniversary last November.

Born in New York City, Maria was the daughter of Carmella (Gambella) Vecchio of New York City NY and the late Peter Vecchio. She was a teacher for the last 17 years in the Northwestern Lehigh School District, New Tripoli PA, most recently teaching Language Arts and History in the Middle School. She was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, Orefield PA. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a graduate of Queens College in New York City in 1971.

She is survived by her Husband; Mother; Daughters, Lauren A. Abrardo and Jacqueline M. Abrardo, both at home; and Sister, Frances Fagan of East Stroudsburg PA.

Funeral Services will be held 9:45 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2005 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA, followed by a Mass of a Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield PA. Family and Friends may call 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Thursday in the Funeral Home. The Reverend Monsignor Robert J. Wargo will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville PA.
