Erwin J. Warmkessel, age 88, of Coplay PA, formerly of Schnecksville PA, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006, in the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center, Scranton PA. He was the husband of Edna M. (Guldin) Warmkessel. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary last August 24th. Born in Mickleys, Whitehall Township PA, Erwin was the son of the late James R. and Bertha (Reichard) Warmkessel. He was a Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Post Office in Schnecksville for 18 years. Prior to that he was a Clerk in the Catasauqua Post Office for 3 years. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II with a rank of Staff Sergeant and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Erwin was a Member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, (Egypt) Whitehall PA. He is survived by his loving Wife, Edna; and several Nieces and Nephews. Erwin is predeceased in death by his Son, Richard E. Warmkessel; Brothers, Paul A. Warmkessel and Curtis J. Warmkessel; and Sisters, Grace Kreglow Rice and Jean Warmkessel. Funeral Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2006 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA with the Reverend James W. Schlegel officiating. Family and Friends may Call 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Funeral Home. Interment to follow service at St. John's Union Cemetery, Whitehall.
