Adele Sarah (German) Rauch, age 88, formerly of Allentown PA and Slatington PA, died Sunday, September 16, 2007 in the Henry Health Care Center on the campus of the Lutheran Home of Topton, Topton PA. She was the wife of the late Ray R. Rauch.

Born in Heidelberg Township PA, June 5, 1919, Adele was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Hattie M. (Long) German. She was a Homemaker and Co-Owner with her husband of the former Ray's Men Shop (later becoming The Chair Shop) in Schnecksville PA. Prior to that, she Co-Managed the former Jordan Inn, Pleasant Corners from 1945 - 1947. Prior to that, she worked as a Switchboard Supervisor for the Bell Telephone Co. in Ann Arbor MI and also worked on her family's farm in Heidelberg Township during her childhood and adolescence. She and her husband spent their later years at their estate in Lehigh Furnace; gardening and raising raspberries, which were then sold to local food vendors. Adele was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington PA; a volunteer for the Red Cross during World War II, and the Lehigh Valley Hospital from 1996 - 2006. She loved to read, travel, play cards with friends and nurture others.

She is survived by her Son, Stephen R. Rauch and his wife Charlene of Alburtis PA; Daughter, Sarajane, wife of Ted Williams of Macungie PA; Grandsons, Lt. Commander Travis M. Rauch and his wife Julie of Chesapeake VA and Andrew Rauch of Salt Lake City UT; 2 Great Grandchildren, Jillian and Ashlyn; Half Sister, Jean Krysiuk of Walnutport PA; and Nieces and Nephews. She is predeceased in death by her Son, Jeffrey Rauch.

Funeral Services will be held 8:00 pm. Thursday, September 20, 2007 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA with the Reverend David L. Hess officiating. Family and Friends may call 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Thursday in the Funeral Home.
