Alfonse J. Valenti (Villanti), age 88, of Upper Macungie Township PA, formerly of Philadelphia and Delaware County PA, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, in Bethlehem PA. He was the husband of Mary C. (Grosso) Valenti. The couple celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary last June 28th. Born in Philadelphia PA, September 3, 1919, Alfonse was the son of the late Caesido and Camille (Narcisi) Villanti. He was employed as a Meat Cutter for Penn Fruit in Philadelphia for twenty years before retiring in 1982. Prior to that, he proudly worked as a Firefighter for the Philadelphia Fire Department for nine years. He faithfully and honorably served in the United States Army during World War II. Alfonse was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield PA, where he was a daily Communicant. While living in Philadelphia, he was active in the Holy Name Society and was a former member of a Men's Softball and Bowling League. He is survived by his Wife; Son, Dr. Ronald J. Valenti and his wife Mary of Forest Hill MD; Daughter, Dr. Rita M. Valenti and her husband the Reverend Canon Michael F. Piovane, Ed.D, with whom he resided; Brother, Joseph Villanti of Quakertown PA; Sister, Kay Sadowy of Warminster PA; 3 Grandchildren, Monica M. Valenti, Dr. Matthew V. Valenti and Christina M. Chmura; and Great Granddaughter, Tinsley C. Valenti. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield PA with the Reverend Monsignor Robert J. Wargo as Celebrant. Family and Friends may call 10:00 am. - 12:00 Noon Wednesday in the Church. Interment will be 11:30 am. Thursday at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Delaware County. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville PA is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church and/or the National Shrine of St. Rita of Cascia, both in c/o the Funeral Home, PO Box 196, Schnecksville PA 18078-0196.
