Carl and Chris for Al Scatterg    11-26-2007

Dear Barb and kids,

So sorry to hear of Al's passing. I am in Florida with my mother, and Chris called to tell me.

Al was so good-hearted and helping or providing for other people came so naturally to him. His legacy, or course, will always live on at Lycoming College. I have many fond memories of Al, but the two most vivid are when we had the picnic at our house the day we got our new dog. We were all so afraid the dog didn't know how to bark (we learned differently as the weeks went by...). Any, at that same picnic, Al brought a set of BOCCI balls, and we all learned a new game!!

I also remember going deep-sea fishing with him...and he was constantly calling "GAFFER". The seas were so rough that night, the crew brought us in early. But, in spite of it all, Al taught me how to deep-sea fish....Scattergood style.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Not sure if I can make it back and get to his service, but I sure will try.

Fondly,

Carl and Chris Shannon

A good man

Tim A for Al Scattergood    11-29-2007

Barb,Keith & Wayne,

When I sarted my business Al took me under his wing a taught me much.

He was a man who I trully admired and respected.

When I first met Al I often wondered why he never wanted to move up the ladder but when I get to know him I figured out why.

In order top move up that ladder you needed to step on many people to get to the top and Al never did

He was man on true character and will be missed

Thinking of You

The Baacke, Burns, and William    12-01-2007

Your years of friendship with Claire and Joe have been a model for the boys and us, and we think of you as family. We've shared vicariously your many adventures and were even lucky enough to share in one when your family and ours visited Winter Harbor, our first "real" vacation.

We still laugh about being nearly "kicked out" of both Winter Harbor and the little restaurant Tim and I so enjoyed with you that night a couple of years ago. Never being kicked out of any establishment, I joke that the only common denominator must be the Scattergoods!

We've always delighted in your company. Al's memory will be close to the heart of all who knew him, even when words fail to express it. Few men possess the overall understanding he had about how to live and love.
