Salvatore Zagarella, 73, of Slatington, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 in his home. He was the husband of Anne L. (Schneck) Zagarella. The couple celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last August 6. Born in Solvay, New York on May 6, 1935, Sal was the son of the late Santo J. and Rose (Marotta) Zagarella. He was employed as a telephone operator for Verizon for the last 3 years. Prior to that, he was a sales representative for several automobile dealerships in the Lehigh Valley for many years. He earned his Masters Degree in Communications from West Chester University; Sal faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S Marine Corps during the Korean War.. He was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schnecksville. Survivors: Wife; son, Salvatore D. Zagarella and his fiancé, Diane V. Doughty of Arlington, Virginia; daughter, Stephanie R. Zagarella of Arlington, Virginia; brother, Michael Zagarella and his wife Suzanne of Shephardstown, West Virginia; sister, Roseanne Valdez and her husband Jose of Le Sueur, Minnesota. Services: Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville with the Rev. Dennis W. Moore and the Rev. Jami L. Possinger officiating. Visitation period, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
