Frank J. Oravec, 86, of Allentown, (Upper Macungie Township) died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Priscilla L. (Nause) Oravec. The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last May 7.

Born in Bethlehem, on October 7, 1922, Frank was the son of the late Stephen and Theresa (Sabol) Oravec. He was employed as an Iron Ore Handler at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 43 years before retiring in 1985. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, Medical Detachment, 27th Infantry Regiment, during World War II. Frank was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

Survivors: Wife; daughter, Judith Ann Bechtel and her husband David of Allentown; grandson, Tyler D. Bechtel of Allentown.

Services: Mass of Christian Burial to be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield with the Rev. Kevin M. Gualano, Celebrant. Family and friends may call 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville and 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday in the church. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, in Wescosville.
