Harold E. Haas, 79 years, 11 months, 19 days, of Dingmans Ferry, formerly of Germansville, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus. He was the husband of Laura S. (Wagner) Haas. The couple would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary today. Born in Whitehall on August 23, 1929, he was the son of the late Ray & Katie (Wenner) Haas. He worked as a Deputy Game Protector and as a Foreman in the Food and Cover Division of the PA Game Commission, for 33 years, before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown. He and his wife Laura served as loving foster parents for over 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife; daughter Judy I. wife of Art C. Sourwine of Bushkill, daughter Donna L. Shoemaker of Reading, daughter Debra A. wife of Dane Grammes of Palmerton, daughter Lorraine K. wife of Cory W. Held of Slatington, son Scott M. Becker of Bethlehem, son David A. Grosz and his wife Elsie of Shamokin; 7 grandchildren, Dana R.Shoemaker, Durell, Jennifer & Jason Grammes, Michael Belzner, Amanda Cressman, Adam Grosz. He is predeceased by brother Henry Haas and grandson Dennis Ray Shoemaker, Jr. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2009, In the Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, Allentown, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating. Call 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Wednesday in the church. Interment to follow the service at Jordan U.C.C. Cemetery.
