Nicholas A. Saltzer, 21, of Germansville, died Friday August 21, 2009 from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicular accident in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County. Born in Allentown on February 11, 1988, Nick was the son of Matthew J. Saltzer and his wife Vickie L. (Woodcock) of Dillsburg and Stephanie A. (Wessner) Miller and her husband Kevin R. Miller with whom he resided in Germansville. He assisted his Uncle Smokey in the operation of their family farm in Heidelberg Township while attending LCCC in Schnecksville. Nick was a graduate of the Northwestern Lehigh High School, Class of 2006. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington. An avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, Nick loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed the recent success of the Steelers and Phillies. He enjoyed life and the company of his family and friends. Survivors: Parents; sister, Jessica L. Saltzer and her fiancé Jacob B. Scholl of Kempton; brother, Matthew J. Saltzer, Jr. and his wife Daelen and their daughter Alice H. Saltzer of Kempton; half sisters, Emily H. Saltzer and Natalie R. Saltzer, both of Dillsburg; maternal grandfather, Forrest A. Wessner, Jr. and his wife Jane of Slatington; paternal grandfather, Evan G. Saltzer of Orefield; maternal great grandfather, Forrest A. Wessner, Sr. of New Tripoli. Services: Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Road, Slatington, with the Rev. David L. Hess, officiating. Family and friends may call 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Interment will follow the service at Heidelberg Union Cemetery, Slatington.
