Dennis L. “Koala” Baer, 60, of Whitehall, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown after being stricken while driving. He was the husband of Susan M. (Marencik) Baer. The couple celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary last October 23.

Born in Fullerton, on December 7, 1949, Dennis was the son of the late Franklin L. and Florence M. (Holben) Baer. He was employed as a skilled craftsperson at The Morning Call in Allentown for the past 33 years. He faithfully and honorable served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with a rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the Fullerton American Legion Post # 367 and a life member of the Fullerton Fire Company.

Survivors: Wife; daughter, Andrea L. Baer of York; half brother, Lester F. Baer of Allentown.

Services: Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing and calling period from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. A graveside service with military honors at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs, will immediately follow the calling period.
