Daniel Capuano Sr., 89, of Hellertown died May 4, 2010 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Twp. He is the husband of Caroline R. (Venanzi) Capuano. Born in Italy on July 21, 1920 to the late George and Maria Antoinette (Ruggiero) Capuano. Daniel worked as a Brick Layer and retired in 1982 from the Lubrication Department at the former Bethlehem Steel totaling 42 years of service. He served his country honorably during World War II in the Army Infantry Rifle Platoon; a member of Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown; Edward H. Ackerman Post 397 Hellertown; MORA Club - Bethlehem; Umpire for many years for the Hellertown Little League; Umpired at the Little League World Series - Williamsport. Survivors: In addition to his loving Wife of 68 years; Son, Daniel F. of Bethlehem; Daughter, Carol A. and her husband Rev. Dr. I. Ray Berrian of Hellertown; Brother, Leonard and his wife Anne of Bethlehem; Grandchildren, Gina M. Rakos of Nazareth, Dr. Marc A. Sabo of Williamston, NC and Christopher Capuano of Bethlehem; Great Granddaughter, Elizabeth J. Rakos; and 8 Nieces and Nephews. Predeceased by a Son, George J. Capuano; and Brothers, Matthew Capuano, Father Michael Capuano and Anthony Capuano. Services: Family and friends are invited to call 12- 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street - Hellertown followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at the church. The interment with Military Honors at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown will be private.
