Shirley M. Barndt, 76, of Steel City, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at her residence. She is the wife of Spurgeon B. Barndt.

Born in Steel City, Lower Saucon Twp. on October 11, 1933 to the late LeRoy and Theresa (Nagy) Heater. She was a sewing machine operator at the former Holtz Factory in Bethlehem retiring in 1980. Shirley is a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Freemansburg.

Survivors: In addition to her husband of 57 years last April; daughters: Sandra L. wife of James D. Yackanicz and Sally L. wife of Philip G. Keil, both of Bethlehem; brother: Kenneth Heater of Astoria, OR; grandchildren: Brian James and Matthew Luke Yackanicz, Megan Elizabeth and Shane Andrew Keil; and Buddy "the Cat." Predeceased by a granddaughter: Infant LeAnn Nicole Yackanicz, brother: Burton and sisters: Marion Knauss and Doris Heater.

Services: Family and friends are invited to call 7:00 - 8:30 Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main St. Hellertown. The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The interment will conclude services at Woodland Cemetery, Upper Saucon Twp.

I have such great childhood memories of spending time at Aunt Shirley's house and playing in the back yard. I will always treasure those memories. I know she will be sadly missed by her family.
