Andrew Zachar, Sr., age 95, of Poplar Road, Hellertown PA, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the VNA Hospice at St. Luke's, Fountain Hill. He is the Husband of Ethel R. (Frankenfield) Zachar. The couple celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary this past December. Born in Yonkers NY on August 17, 1909, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Rajock) Zachar. Andy retired in 1973 from the former Bethlehem Steel after 30 years of service in the Metallurgical Department. He previously worked at the former George P. Schlicher & Son, Allentown PA, as a Type Setter for 13 years. He was a graduate from Liberty High School Class of 1927 and was a Member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hellertown PA and a former Member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Bethlehem PA. Andy was known for his fly tying skills, receiving recognition in various magazines. He enjoyed fishing in the Lehigh Valley area. He is survived by his Wife; Son, Andrew Zachar Jr. and his wife Patricia A. (Pealer) of Coopersburg PA; Son-in-law, John E. Eck of Quakertown PA, 6 Grandchildren, David Eck, Robert Eck, Susan Bulliet, Elizabeth Creamer, Susan Ann Evans and Andrew S. Zachar and 4 Great Grandchildren, Michael Eck, Heather Eck, Mackenzie Eck and Jacquelyn Eck. He is predeceased in death by his Daughter, Joan E. Eck, 1981. Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown PA with continued services at 10:00 a.m. at the Church, 69 Main Street, Hellertown. Interment to follow services at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Family and Friends may call 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Friday and 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home.
