Ruth G. (Slater) O'Connor, age 88, of 1619 Burkhardt Street, Hellertown PA, died Tuesday, December 26th, 2000 at the St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill PA. She was the Wife of D. Lawrence O'Connor. The couple celebrated their 61st Anniversary this past August.

Born September 28, 1912 in Sheffield, Warren County PA, she was the Daughter of the late Augustus A. and Mary B. (McLaughlin) Slater. She was Captain of the Basketball Team of the Sheffield High School during the State Championship in 1930; RN at Prospect Heights in Brooklyn NY where she trained and also worked Post Graduate School at the University of Penn in Philadelphia. She was a Member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown PA, where she was Past President of the St. Theresa's Guild and very active in all church activities. She was also a Recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for her volunteerism at the Cerebral Palsy, Bethlehem.

She is survived by her Husband; Son, Lawrence T. O'Connor of Whitehall PA; Daughters, Maureen R. Greipp of Rochester MN and Patricia M. Altier of Langhorne PA; Sister, Helen C. Slater of Bethlehem PA and 8 Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, December 28th, 2000 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown, followed by a Mass at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown PA. Calling Hours 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Interment in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, PO Box K, Hellertown PA 18055.

Uncle Larry & All. I am so sorry that I am not able to be with you at this moment. My heart goes out to all of you. My prayers are with you at this most sad time in your lives. Aunt Ruth right now is looking down on
you and beaming with pride on her greatest accomplishment, Her Family. Always keep her in your heart and you will never be without her.
Uncle Larry I know that Mom welcomed Aunt Ruth with open arms and your two special ladies are together in a
