Robert K. Ockovic, age 59, of Allentown PA, died Monday, December 19, 2005 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township PA. He was the husband of Carolyn J. (Smith) Ockovic. The couple celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary last June.

Born in Allentown PA, Robert was the son of Mildred (Trinkle) Ockovic of Allentown and the late Albert A. Ockovic. He was a Lieutenant for the City of Allentown Fire Department for 32 years before retiring. One of his proudest accomplishments was the working restoration of the Allentown Fire Department's 1909 Ahrens Steam Fire Pumper. The National Exchange Club awarded Lt. Ockovic Fireman of the Year in 1990.

He also was a licensed plumber for 41 years. He was of the Lutheran Faith. He honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Allentown Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union; former Member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Boy Scouts of America. He had a great love for working with Belgian Horses on the Raynor and Joan Leiby Farm in Tamaqua PA.

In addition to his Beloved Wife; he is survived by his Mother; Son, Todd R. Ockovic of Reading PA; Daughter, Stacey L. Tapler and her husband Anthony of New Tripoli PA; Twin Brother, Richard C. Ockovic and his wife Gloria of Northampton PA; Brother, Michael A. Ockovic of Charleston SC; Sisters, Patricia Hall of Scranton PA and Barbara Krapft of Allentown PA; and Grandsons, Jacob Robert Tapler and Samuel Todd Tapler.

Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA with Allentown Fire Department Chaplain, W. Scott Kappes officiating. Family and Friends may Call 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Jerusalem (Red) Church Cemetery, Kempton PA.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contribution may be made to the Welfare Fund of the Allentown Fire Department c/o the Funeral Home, PO Box 196, Schnecksville PA 18078-0196.
