Richard D. Thomas, age 58, of Kempton PA, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia PA. He was the husband of Candance Herrman. The couple celebrated their 19th Wedding Anniversary last May.

Born in Grass Valley CA, he was the son of Vera George of Quakertown PA and the late Donald Thomas. He was a Clinical Supervisor for the Children's home of Reading. Previously he was Executive Director for the Allentown Secured Treatment Unit of Northwestern Human Services. He was an Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.

In addition to his loving Wife and Mother, he is survived by his Sons, Brian and his wife Jessie of Oakland CA and Scott and his partner Bethany Wesner of Denver CO; Sisters, Kathy Gourley of North Hills PA, Judy Dixon of Doylestown PA, and Carol Fulforth of North Hills PA; and Grandchildren, Gabriella and Dylan Thomas.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2006, in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA. Family and Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to The Animal Rescue League and/or The Farm Sanctuary of New York c/o the Funeral Home, PO Box 196, Schnecksville PA 18078-0196.


I wish to express my sympathy to Rick's family. I have spent the last few days stunned in disbelief at the news of his passing. He was very supportive and no matter how busy he was would take time to listen to your problems or give you a hand. I will always remember him fondly for his conversation, generosity and sage advise.
