Sanford W. "Sandy" Thatcher, age 74, of Wescosville PA, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown PA. He is the husband of Shirley M. (Trautman) Thatcher. Born in Hellertown PA, May 4, 1932, he is the son of the late Harry E. Sr. and Elsie M. (Renner) Thatcher. Sandy worked as an Engineer for the PB&NE Railroad for many years, retiring in 1984. He served his country honorably during the Korean War in the United States Army and is a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a Member of the Disabled Veterans Association and the Edward H. Ackerman Post 397, Hellertown PA. In addition to his loving Wife of 52 years, he is survived by his Daughter, Dianne L., wife of John J. Becker, Sr. of Hellertown PA; 3 Grandchildren, John J. Becker, Jr., Sgt. Daniel J. Becker and Keri A. Becker; and 4 Great Grandchildren, Joseph N. Becker, Gabriel A. Stoneback, Kylie M. Becker and Aubrey G. Becker. He is predeceased by his Brothers, Albertus K. and Harry E. Jr. Family and Friends are invited to call 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20th, 2007 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA with a service at 11:00 a.m. The interment with Military Honors will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Lehigh Valley Chapter 2045 Westgate Drive, Bethlehem PA 18017 and/or the American Cancer Society, Lehigh Valley Unit, 3893 Adler Place, Bethlehem PA 18017. |
